South Asian Society
Rice University’s South Asian Society, or SAS, is a secular student organization dedicated to spreading awareness of the cultures of South Asia through language, song, dance, and service. Membership is open to the entire student body of Rice University, and SAS holds various cultural events and programs to share the South Asian experience with Rice University — and beyond.
Rebrand
Rice University South Asian Society is one of school’s largest student organizations. As the SAS name began to expand outside of the university and into the Houston community, the group wanted a fresh and updated visual look that was bold and recognizable. Consultation with the Executive Board resulted in the idea to build an identity surrounding the lotus flower, an easily recognizable symbol strongly associated with South Asia.
